• Calculate how much paint you need before you buy, never underestimate.
• The colour, texture and porosity of the surface will greatly effect the amount of
paint you will need.
• Pebble dash, textured surfaces and embossed wallpaper will require
twice as much paint as smooth surfaces.
• Dark colours may take two or three coats of undercoat in order to change
to another colour.
• Two coats of gloss are always recommended for exterior painting to
better protect against the weather.
• To calculate the amount of paint required for a large area break it down
into smaller parts.
• Measure the length of each surface and multiply by the height this will
give you the area in square metres.
• Add all the totals together to get the final figure.
